Friedel oscillations in a Luttinger liquid with long-range interactions
We introduce a path-integral approach that allows to compute charge density oscillations in a Luttinger liquid with impurities. We obtain an explicit expression for the envelope of Friedel oscillations in the presence of arbitrary electron-electron potentials. As examples, in order to illustrate the procedure, we show how to use our formula for contact and Coulomb potentials. Pacs: 05.30.Fk, 71...
متن کاملExact Friedel oscillations in the g = ½ Luttinger liquid
Exact Friedel oscillations in the g = 1 2 Luttinger liquid. Abstract: A single impurity in the 1D Luttinger model creates a local modiication of the charge density analogous to the Friedel oscillations. In this paper, we present an exact solution of the case g = 1 2 (the equivalent of the Toulouse point) at any temperature T and impurity coupling, expressing the charge density in terms of a hyp...
متن کاملExact Friedel oscillations in the g=1/2 Luttinger liquid.
A single impurity in the 1D Luttinger model creates a local modification of the charge density analogous to the Friedel oscillations. In this paper, we present an exact solution of the case g = 1 2 (the equivalent of the Toulouse point) at any temperature T and impurity coupling, expressing the charge density in terms of a hypergeometric function. We find in particular that at T = 0, the oscill...

When a metal undergoes a transition to an insulator it will lose its electronic Fermi surface. Interestingly, in so...
